Supporting environmental education
To protect the future health of our planet we must raise a generation of children who are motivated and inspired to conserve our natural resources.
Unilever has provided Canadians with high quality environmental educational programmes at no cost for over 14 years.
![]() | EcovoyageursEcoVoyageurs was launched in 1996. It is a curriculum based programme designed to teach students in grades 6 through 10 about their ecological footprint – how to measure it and how to reduce it. To date over one million students across Canada have been exposed to EcoVoyageurs. In 2009 we launched the EcoVoyageurs Junior programme. Based on the existing programme, EcoVoyageurs Junior is designed to teach students from kindergarten to grade 5 about how their individual actions impact the environment The goal of the lesson plans is to create empathy and a knowledge base about the people, flora and fauna - the places - where students live and go to school. This knowledge and empathy will lead to positive actions in their personal, family, school and community lives. |
![]() | York UniversitySince 1999, Unilever Canada has invested in a generous scholarship programme with York University’s Faculty of Environmental Studies. Each year, one undergraduate student in the faculty receives a $5,000 award and one graduate student receives a $10,000 award to support their studies in environmental science. This award is open to all graduate students enrolled in the Faculty of Environmental Studies at York University. Preference will be given to a student with an area of concentration in sustainability. By investing in these scholarships, Unilever is helping students offset the increasing cost of higher education while giving them an opportunity to achieve their academic goals. |
